Lincolnshire Police’s New Rapid Response Vehicle
Lincolnshire Police’s New Rapid Response Vehicle, originally uploaded by James Bliss. Only in the rural flat-lands of Lincolnshire could this occur. In addition to the BMWs, Imprezas, Volvos, Audis, etc. that Lincs Police have, they now have a John Deere to add to their fleet.
West Lindsey District Council discusses innovative plans to combat Government cuts
From the front page of the Lincoln Target, Thurs, Sept 2, 2010. And I quote… Talks are ongoing to develop new ideas, with a crematorium for Gainsborough and a composting plant closer to residents living in the fringe villages, near Lincoln, under construction. These two locations are only c. 20 miles apart. Surely, in these [...]
Six million dollar man intro
There’s nothing quite like a bit of nostalgia. The six million dollar man was one of favourite shows as a kid. Do you remember the action figure?
Bilge on the environment – the earth needs no saving
I agree with what Bilge has to say about saving the planet. NB. Do not read Bilge if you’re easily offended – as you really won’t like the swearing. I’m all for doing my bit but green-hijacking is now a serious concern to me. I’m getting really fed-up with every company jumping on the green [...]
Three great Apple experiences
Recently, my MacBook has been playing up a little. A few minutes after boot-up the fan revs up to 6500+ RPM and stays there regardless of the load on the CPU. I Googled it and found a few people reporting the same issue but couldn’t find an authoritative solution so, yesterday, I popped into my [...]
IBM discount at Apple stores
Apple is not well known for discounting its products, however, a Tier 1 Partner discount is available to IBMers on production of their IBM badge. The discounts range (I believe) from 6 to 10 percent (depending on whether you purchase hardware, software or services). This is very useful to know if, like me, you’re an [...]
Carry your laptop in style
I was browsing Ed Brill’s blog and saw his post on a new laptop case he’s just received. It’s a Tumi 26141. Nice looking case. In fact, Tumi have a very nice range, although they’re a bit steep (check out the Limited edition Powerpack at £575!). I also like the laptop case finder. Nice touch.
eBay seller upsets manufacturer
There’s an interesting post on BoingBoing about an eBay seller who was selling shampoo on the auction site. The manufacturer of the shampoo, SalonQuest, contacted the seller (Jamie Olson from California) initially advising she was in violation of the Copyright Act by by displaying images of the product (photos she took herself). Subsequently, SalonQuest ordered [...]
At last – free hotel wi-fi
I’ve just checked into the Golden Tulip in Manchester. At last, free wi-fi – buckshee, gratis, nowt, nada. OK, so it’s not the cheepest hotel in the world, however, that’s more of a concern for my employers than it is for me as they booked me in here. The only downside … I can see [...]
Excessive bank charges are unlawful
If, like me, you’ve ever had a charge from your bank (exceeding your overdraft, returned DD, bounced cheque, etc.) you’ll welcome this news. Actually, it’s not new but I’ve been holding off posting this until I’d successfully claimed my charges back from my banks (which, has now happened). OK, the headlines. Banks have been charging [...]
