About a year ago I was introduced to Paul Farnell by one of the lecturers at MMU, the Business School where I studied BSc BIT. Paul was highly recommended for his web development skills. I met up again with him a couple of weeks ago at a presentation he gave and he’s doing some very interesting stuff.
Paul runs Salted.com and he and his team have come up with a couple of very slick offerings aimed at web developers.
The first is SiteVista which enables developers to simultaneously test the pages they produce in virtually any browser, resolution, etc. all in real time. As an avid Mac user I hate it when web pages break in Safari, or even in Firefox, and having seen SiteVista in action there’s no longer any excuse for pages to work only in IE. Even if you only develop one site, do it properly and conduct proper testing. I recommend you use SiteVista. It really is cool and from only $9 it’s exceptional value for money.
The second product is free but this doesn’t mean it’s any less impressive. Again aimed at either the casual or professional web developer Salted has just released a great tool CSSVista which allows you to edit your CSS code live in IE or Firefox. A very cool application and ‘hats off’ for making it free.
The guys at Salted also blog; it’s called Unsalted and is worth checking out. If you need a blog setting up or indeed any webdev that demands style and useability underpinned with excellent technical competency then get in touch with Paul.
